NSW GOVERNMENT FAILS THE STATE’S MOTORCYCLISTS ONCE AGAIN
With the arrival of new mobile speed cameras, and the RTA’s proposed new 4km/h tolerance limit for all speeding offences, it is time to take an objective look at the facts the speed-camera-revenue-addicted Keneally government is not telling us about motorcycles.
• FACT: In 1995 there were 8.9 motorcycle fatalities per 10,000 registered motorcycles in NSW.
• FACT: In 2008 there were 3.7 motorcycle fatalities per 10,000 registered motorcycles in NSW.
There are more bikes on the road than ever and the road toll is going down. The RTA’s own statistics verify that. There is no “carnage” on our roads and there never has been. That is just a convenient catch-phrase the government wheels out whenever it wishes to bankroll its fiscal failures from the pockets of the state’s road-users. Despite this, motorcyclists’ CTP premiums are set to rise by over 84 per cent in some cases.
“Never in my 40 years of involvement in motorcycles have I seen riders so angry,” the chairman of the NSW Motorcycle Council said today. “On August 31st, 2010 NSW Parliament returns and thousands of annoyed motorcycle and scooter riders will be there to greet them.”
Motorcycle and scooter riders are a unique and independent road-user group and they are fed-up with being ignored and repeatedly failed by the NSW government, except when it needs money.

Well if they were any more stupid they would stop breathing the MCCofNSW. So motorcycle fatalities are down, didn't know that CTP covered death, wasn't aware that fatalities represented the cost of CTP, must have misread the policy (sarcasm). That data shows nothing about what is actually happening. If anything it would suggest that speed cameras are working!
I am not saying that we are not being screwed but ffs can someone actually present data that is relevant to the cause we are intending to roll up to or at least support our argument.
I plan on taking this day off, but want to see a little more details of the plan before I show up. I have heard of go slow rides, blocking roads etc. I believe this was started off a face book page?

After doing some research and finding no real benefits in the changes, at least none that are being advertised I feel that if we are going to have a protest ride that I should at least put up or shut up. I have never protested or shown up to a protest and figure now is a good time to fight for what I believe is right. So I have sent the following email to MCCofNSW -
"I am writing you about the planned CTP protest ride, concerned that as the lobby group for NSW motorcyclists you are going off half cocked with this protest ride. On the forums I frequent and your own website there is little substance or information about what, where, when. Thus this email to you –
That data posted up by the MCCofnsw on the website is as relevant as a vet giving financial advice. CTP prices are paid on injuries not deaths, whilst it is great that deaths as a percentage has gone down, that could very well mean that injuries has gone up as more people are surviving crashes than ever before due to better awareness of protective equipment. It could also mean that there are more motorcycles registered but being ridden less. The data is useless and in reality only works against us. There is data on the RTA websites, there is information available under the FOI act that will give actual data about the number of reported accidents, cross reference this with hospitals than we can present real data and real evidence that shows motorcyclists are being screwed and unfairly so.
Firstly no details about where to meet and what the plan is, no actual details about what we should be asking for, only to converge in some half arsed way on Parliament.
I am sending an email to MCCofNSW suggest/ recommend the following -
1) all motorcyclists to meet at either Centennial Park or Moore Park (Driver ave). Leave and head down Flinders Street, onto Oxford street, College Street, around the back of Parliament house, ride up the front and park on Macquarie street, right out front of Parliament house.
2) motorcyclists attending to obey all road rules and take up only one lane so other motorists can make their way as normal as possible.
3) Invite (ensure) that the opposition leader and opposition roads minister are there and make a commitment to reverse the decision, not just review
4) A press release to AAP and other news organisations so that as much publicity is given towards this
5) advise Police/ RTA so that they can coordinate road blocks etc
6) Ask that we go with an agenda and not just a mob attack.
If we are going to make a stand, do it right and do it properly.
Regards,

Nice!
how about a single seat rego like they have in QLD too! if the CTP is for third party injuries and as a bike rider you'd be pretty unlikely to injure a car driver you would assume it is Pillions being injured!? I reckon in the last 30,000km I've ridden 2500 would be with a pillion (that includes one ride of approx 2000km to PI and back) so for me to remove the pillion pegs to save on rego would be no big deal. But let's face it, this isn't about safety or even what's sensible or fair, it's all about a Broke Government looking for soft targets to get money out of! _________________ 2010 DRZ400SM, 2003 KTM640Adv, 1994 ZZR600 PM2 Race bike |

Might have jumped the gun a little bit, had a reply from the MCCofNSW -
Nicolas,
Thank you for your email. As we have been awaiting permission from the Police for our Protest Rally, we thought it wise to not go off “half-cocked” in case changes to our plans were forced upon us. Expect to see full details on the MCC website in the next couple of days.
Warmest regards,
Rob Colligan

Will wait and see what happens and than make a decision

fu(k, 12 responses, only fu(ken 12 and 3 of them aren't coming, so only 12 people out of 2311 registered members give a rats about this issue.
2299 people are quite happy to take it up the clacker, happy to pay more and more every time this government screws up and spends too much?
say something, do something, write something, don't let them fu(k us, with sand!!!! _________________ Craig
